Lets wrap up the Walcott ISC Area Tournament. 25th Year at Walcott. Pat Sullivan always draws the most teams of any area World Tournament qualifier. 18 teams came this year. Thomson IL Thomson Merchants came out on top. Heavy rain delayed Saturday's finals. As usual Larry Koberg and the fine folks at Walcott put on a 1st class event. The pork chops were fantastic again. Kevin Sexton of Davenport IA Quad City Sox was the Most Valuable Player he hit .474 with 2 hr and 7 rbi batting lead off. Jonas Mach was the Most Outstanding Pitcher he was 4-0 with 51 K in 25.2 innings. he had a 1.44 era. Attached are several things of interest to all. The schedule with results, winning and losing pitchers and chronological order of finish. The Leading Hitters minimum 10 at bats over .200. Leading Pitchers minimum 1 win. Wish work commitments had not prevented me from seeing more games and eating more porkchops. I would like to thank Pat Sullivan and Larry Koberg for allowing my son Bret and Myself the honor of working the area tournament every year. It is an event I look forward to with great pleasure. I would like to thank Becky Rasmussen for all the work she has done for many years as the announcer and scorekeeper for the tournaments at Walcott. She works Wescott Park and does every game on that diamond. She will work the World tournament in Moline and will be very welcome. She has said that this will be her last Walcott tournament she will be missed very much by both Bret and I. A big Thank You Becky. The ground crew which is comprised of what ever volunteers are at the park at the time did a geat job of getting the diamonds ready to play. 16 years ago Pat Sullivan brought me to the attention of Milt Stark then the Executive Director of the ISC. It lead me to the best statisticians job in the world and I thank Pat very very much for all the enjoyment I have had so far and for the enjoyment to come. I love this game! Also I want to thank my son Bret he puts in many hours helping me as my assistant at the World Tournament and Walcott. He also puts in many hours as ISC Historian. Gary
